TWIC Information

TWIC Enrollment Information

All mariners applying for any MMC Endorsement must enroll in the TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) program through the Universal Enrollment Services (UES). The TWIC is an identification card issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).

Enrollment in the TWIC program costs about  $140 and takes about 15 to 20 minutes. You will be required to provide some personal information, and a government issued photo identification (a passport is the best if you have one). TSA will take a digital photograph and your fingerprints, which is forwarded to the FBI to construct a background file. This background file is assessed by TSA for terrorist threats, and again by the USCG for criminal activity.

Renewal of the TWIC

The TWIC is valid for five years. Renewal of the TWIC requires going to a UES Center and updating your personal and digital information.

With some exceptions noted in the instructions on form CG 719B renewal of your MCC, which is also valid for five years, requires renewing your TWIC as well.
