SE Alaska, Straights of Juan De Fuca, Puget Sound Sea Time

Evaluation of sea service experience in SE Alaska, Straights of Juan De Fuca, and Puget Sound has gone through another change. It is now consider Near Coastal sea service for all vessels regardless of the watch system being maintained. Title 46 CFR 10.232 (b) (3) reads, “…… For establishing credit for sea service, the waters of the Inside Passage between Puget Sound and Cape Spencer, Alaska will be credited for a near-coastal and STCW endorsement.” From the information that I have it appears that you can still operate on these waters with an Inland endorsement, at least for now.
